Reading Russian from a photo
Russian is written in Cyrillic, including handwritten cursive forms. PointTranslate reads it with a vision model that sees the whole image at once, so it keeps lines and blocks together and translates them in context rather than character by character.
Tips for Russian photos
- Printed Cyrillic reads very reliably. Handwritten cursive Cyrillic is harder, so write-ups and notes need a sharp photo.
- Many Cyrillic letters look like Latin ones but sound different (Р is R, Н is N). The translator reads them as Cyrillic when the context is Russian.

Can it read Russian handwriting?
Neat handwriting usually works. Very cursive or stylised writing may come back partly empty, because the model skips text it cannot read reliably instead of guessing.
