Bubble order matters more than the words
A comic page is not a paragraph. Translate its bubbles in the wrong order and a conversation turns into nonsense. In Japanese manga, panels run right to left and top to bottom, and within a panel the bubble nearest the top right is read first. PointTranslate numbers bubbles in that order, so the list reads like the dialogue it is.
Sound effects are marked SFX: so you can tell a door slamming from a line of dialogue. Honorifics such as -san, -kun and -senpai are kept, because they carry relationships an English word cannot.

For clean results
- One page at a time
- A single page, or a single panel strip for webtoons, keeps bubbles large enough to read reliably.
- Screenshots beat photos
- A screenshot of a digital page has crisp lettering; a photo of a printed volume picks up page curve and glare.
- Keep the gutters
- Do not crop through bubbles. A bubble cut in half loses its text.
- Switch views
- Overlay shows the page as a translated comic; Pins keeps the art visible and lists bubbles below.
Manga translator questions
How do I translate a manga page?
Upload or paste a screenshot of the page. Every speech bubble, caption and sound effect is read in the page's reading order and translated; the Overlay view lays the translation over each bubble, and the list below gives the original next to it.
Does it read right-to-left manga order?
Yes. Japanese manga is read panel by panel from right to left, top to bottom, and bubbles are numbered in that order. Korean webtoons, Chinese manhua and Western comics are read left to right.
Can it handle vertical Japanese text in bubbles?
Yes. Vertical text, furigana and mixed kana/kanji are read as whole lines. Hand-lettered sound effects drawn into the art are harder and may be skipped rather than guessed.
Is there a Chrome extension?
No, PointTranslate runs in the browser tab. On a computer, take a screenshot (Win + Shift + S or Cmd + Shift + 4) and paste it straight into the page with Ctrl or Cmd + V.
Is it free, and are my pages stored?
Free with a fair-use limit of about a dozen pages every ten minutes. Pages are sent once to the AI model to produce the translation and are not stored.
Please translate only pages you have the right to read, and support official releases where they exist.
