  • Formal "vous" is used by default.

Have the source file instead? The Word & PowerPoint translator keeps fonts, tables and layout. Only have a photo of the page? Use the image translator.

Questions

How do I translate a PDF to French for free?

Drop the PDF into the box above. The target is already set to French; press Translate and each page is translated next to the original. Download the result as a text file or print it to a new PDF. Free up to 20 pages per file, no sign-up.

Can it translate a scanned PDF to French?

Yes. Pages without a text layer are rendered in your browser and read by a vision model, up to 8 scanned pages per file. Those pages are labelled "scanned" so you know which method was used.

Will the translated French PDF keep the original layout?

No. You get a clean page-by-page translation rather than a re-typeset PDF, because PDF text is stored as positioned fragments and rebuilding the layout in another language is unreliable. If you have the original Word or PowerPoint file, the document translator keeps the formatting.

Is my PDF uploaded or stored?

The PDF is opened in your browser and never uploaded. Only its text (or an image of a scanned page) is sent for translation, and nothing is kept.

Can I use the French translation officially?

No. Use it to understand a document. Visa, court, medical and university submissions usually require a certified human translation.
